Report – November 2020

Together with many other organisations, Little Waltham Gardening Club has not held many meetings this year, but the beating heart of gardening still continues, whatever pandemic tries to overcome the world.

We gardeners have reaped satisfactorily good harvests after a very dry (at times!), Summer.

Potatoes, carrots, onions and squashes are safely stored for future use. Annual vegetable plants and flowers are now on the compost heap, slowly recycling into a form that can be used again to enrich the soil next year. Dahlia tubers have been lifted, cleaned and stored and bulbs and biennials planted for our delight in the Spring.

As gardeners, we are always looking to the future and for that we have been ordering seeds from the Club’s special discount account. Thus the gardening cycle will be ready to begin again early next year.

With the promise of a Covid – 19 vaccine in mind, the Club is optimistic about resuming meetings in 2021. Exactly when we’ll meet remains to be seen. However, when we feel safe to meet we’ll publicise the event far and wide and be ready to welcome members old and new.

Meanwhile, enjoy the slower rhythm of the season in your gardens, put your feet up and keep safe.
