Proposed Outings in 2022
WEDNESDAY 15th June – Afternoon outing to Furzelea, garden, Bicknacre Road, Danbury CM3 4JR.
Leave Memorial Hall at 1.15 to arrive at 2.00pm. Entry – £9.00, includes home made refreshments. If coming from Chelmsford, at Eves Corner Danbury, turn right into Mayes Lane, then into Penny Royal Lane. NT car park opposite Cricketers Pub. Take footpath along Bicknacre road . Note, take care crossing the road to Furzelea. Our Host and Hostess : Mr and Mrs Cole-Jones
N.B. If car park is full,extra parking 200m past on left of Bicknacre Road.
WEDNESDAY 13th JULY – Afternoon outing to Bridge End Gardens, Saffron Walden.
Leave Memorial Hall at 12.45, to arrive at the Swan Meadow Car Park CB10 1DH.at 1.45pm
PLEASE BE AT THE SWAN MEADOW CARPARK BY 1.45PM (see below)
DIRECTIONS: Take the B184 from Dunmow through Thaxted. On approaching outskirts of Saffron Walden, turn left into PEASELANDS ROAD (sign posted Audley End). Peaslands road goes into Mount Pleasant Road. TURN RIGHT into DEBDEN ROAD, then RIGHT into THE HIGH STREET which leads into BRIDGE STREET. Go past CHURCH ON R.H.S, then EIGHT BELLS PUB, then TURN LEFT into NEW POND LANE which will lead you to SWAN MEADOW CARPARK CD10 1DH. (£2.00 for 4 hours can take card payments)
In this car park we will be met by Liz Lake “Friend of Bridge End Gardens” who will take us on a tour of the Gardens. Cost £3.00 pp
NOTE: There are toilets within the garden, but no refreshments. I suggest you bring bottled water, especially if it’s hot. There are plenty of benches to sit down. I have made inquiries at the Tiptree Tea Room in the town (10 – 15 minutes walk) where teas/coffees plus cake is available at your own cost. THURSDAY 4th AUGUST – Afternoon outing to The Gardens of Easton Lodge to arrive at 1.45pm. Leave Memorial Hall Car park at 1pm
Cost of entry, guided tour (approximately 75 minutes),and homemade refreshments £8.50 per person. Each visitor will receive a folded Garden Guide with map and historical notes. There will be opportunity to look at historical photographs and memorabilia in the archive room.
DIRECTIONS: use CM6 2BB FOR SAT NAV.
From the Tesco roundabout in Dunmow, take the B184 towards Thaxted, turn LEFT at MILL LANE and LEFT again into PARK ROAD. Continue for about half a mile on from LITTLE EASTON CHURCH. Entrance is on the right hand side.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I NEED TO HAVE THE NAMES OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO JOIN US at LEAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE SET DATE.
