FEBRUARY 5th – A Talk about the history and development of Marks Hall by Peter Hickling
FEBRUARY 11th (Tuesday) – VISIT TO BUCKHATCH NURSERY for a talk on ‘Care and propagation of Houseplants’ by Gill Horgan. Depart from Memorial Hall carpark at 10.00am to arrive in time for coffee. The talk will begin at 11.00am for an hour after which there will be time to look round the nursery, make purchases and have lunch if so desired. There is no cost for the talk, but all refreshments need to be paid for.
MARCH 4th – A.G.M plus a Talk and Demonstration about Dahlias and their propagation by John Cullum (Leading member of the National Dahlia Society)
MARCH 12th ( Thursday) Flower arranging Workshop. Tutor Lionel Clark – in afternoon in URC Schoolroom (exact time and cost to be arranged)
APRIL 11th (Saturday) – SPRING SHOW – Schedules available at February meeting
MAY 6th – ‘ General uses and Preservation of Herbs’ by Zsuzsa Serer – postponed until June 2021
JUNE 3rd – Afternoon outing to Horkesley Hall, Little Horkesley, Colchester CO6 4DB
Depart Memorial Hall carpark at 1.15. Cost £10.00 per person. This includes admission, tour and refreshments.
JULY 1st -Afternoon visit to Two Cottages’ Church Road, Chrishall, Saffron Walden. SG8 8QT . Michelle Thomas, the owner was featured on ‘Gardener’s World’ in Sept.2019
Entry to garden £5.00, Refreshments, including home made cake, £5.00
AUGUST 5th Afternoon Outing to Ulting Wick, Crouchmans Farm Road, Maldon CM9 8QX Cost – £10.00 per person, includes entry, introductory talk, Tea/coffee and home made cake. Depart Memorial Hall Car Park at 1.45pm to arrive at 2.30pm
SEPTEMBER 2nd – ‘ Plants of Seasonal Interest’, by Tim Carter of Long House Plants. Plants from this nursery will be on sale. Postponed until September 2021
OCTOBER 7th -‘A Very British Garden’, by Darren Lerigo
NOVEMBER 4th – The WoodlandTrust – ‘The Importance and Value of Woods and Trees’, by Sally Hepher.
DECEMBER 2nd – Members’ Christmas Social – with ‘live’ entertainment.
N.B. – lifts will be available for the February, June, July and August meetings. Also, maps/directions to destination.
All the events listed above take place in The Memorial Hall, Little Waltham (CM3 3LN), at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated. We usually have a plant and book stall and always a raffle, refreshments and a warm welcome. We are a small, friendly bunch and we are always learning more about growing.
