LITTLE WALTHAM GARDENING CLUB PROPOSED PROGRAMME 2022

JANUARY 2022 – NO MEETING

2nd FEBRUARY – ‘Plants for Silty, Sandy and Clay soils’, by George Lockwood, a professional gardener with many years’ experience of working with all types of soil. Advice about which plants to grow in each type of soil.

2nd MARCH – A.G.M. This is your chance to put forward your ideas about how the Club should be run. Discussion about the Spring Show. Please bring along or collect your show schedules at this meeting

SATURDAY APRIL 9th – SPRING SHOW. (Open to the public 1.30 to 4.30pm)

Open to non-members and free entry to all classes. ENTRY FORMS (at back of schedule) should be completed, given to Marion or Maggie by WEDNESDAY 6TH APRIL. (For emails  and phone numbers see Contacts page.

4th May – “Vegetable Self Sufficiency in a Changing Climate” by Maike Windhorst

June 1st – “Culinary Herbs and Their Uses” by Zsuzsa Serer. Interactive discussion.

June 15th – Afternoon outing to “Furzelea” garden Danbury

July 13th – Afternoon outing to Bridge End Gardens Saffron Walden

August 4th – Visit to the Gardens of Easton Lodge, Little Easton, Dunmow, CM6 2BB.

September 7th –  Is our first meeting of our Autumn programme. There has been a slight change to our previous programme. Darren Lerigo of Modern Mint will give a presentation on “A Very British Garden”  discussing what really makes up a British Garden such as design, soil types, pruning, planting etc

October 5th – We look forward to a presentation entitled “Bee Mine” by  Stacy Cronley-Dillon, a professional Beekeeper from Sunnyfield Apiaries. Stacy will tell how she came to her obsession with bees and the intriguing world in which they live, where  queens are not all they seem to be!

November 2nd “The Wilderness Foundation and Allotment” by Carolin Rogers. Carolin will give an introduction to the Charity and will focus on their allotment programme.

All our evening meetings and the Spring Show take place in The Memorial Hall, Little Waltham CM3 3LN. There is plenty of parking behind the Hall.
The evening meetings begin at 7.30pm. There will be a raffle and light refreshments available.
We are a small but enthusiastic bunch of gardeners who are always keen to learn more about our hobby.
