Report – March 2021

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting nearer and brighter regarding the lifting of Covid restrictions! The Prime Minister, in a recent broadcast gave us the proposed date of the return to normality as 21st June. Such joy! However, we all know from recent experience that things don’t always go to plan, especially where this virus is concerned.

But bearing that in mind, the Gardening Club is optimistically planning to hold its FIRST INDOOR MEETING 2021 on WEDNESDAY 1st SEPTEMBER 2021 at 7.30pm in Little Waltham Memorial Hall. THE SPEAKER will be TIM CARTER of LONG HOUSE PLANTS and his subject ‘PLANTS OF SEASONAL INTEREST’. Tim will bring a wide range of perennial plants that are at their peak in September and he will discuss how and where to plant them and invite the audience to buy them. From experience, I know his plants are of excellent quality at affordable prices.

You DON’T have to be a member; please come along and join us for the evening ( just £3.00), and maybe treat yourself to some colourful plants. Meanwhile, it’s quite possible that, if all goes to plan with diminishing Covid infection numbers, the Club may organise a couple of afternoon outings to local gardens. The details will be included in the Summer issue of the Parish Magazine, augmented by posters around the village and also on the Club’s website: www.littlewalthamgardeningclub.co.uk

Enjoy the Spring, set out your seed potatoes to chit, sow your sweet pea seeds (indoors) and look forward to a Summer of hopefully greater freedom. Looking forward to meeting up again
